DOMINICAN REPUBLIC RESIDENCY DOCUMENTS INCLUDING WORKING PERMISSION

If you decide to start permanently living or doing your business in the Dominican Republic it is necessary for you to obtain an official document that allows you to live and work legally on the island. In general, citizens of the EU, the United States or Canada do not need tourist visas to enter the country, but maximum length of the stay is 6 months (for some nationalities only 3 months) and you are NOT ALLOWED TO WORK here during this period. You are considered a tourist in the Dominican Republic.

Temporaly residency

Our lawyers will arrange for you these official residency papers that are issued by the Dominican Immigration Office in Santo Domingo. Our lawyer has been working with the Immigration Office for more than 20 years, and she guarantees a quick and absolutely legal immigration process for you. We will also arrange a Dominican citizen who is required by the local authorities as a personal guarantee for your application.

Which documents are necessary to submit with your application for Dominican residency?

  • Medical exams (it must be done here in Santo Domingo by immigration doctors)
  • Full copy (all pages) of your passport
  • Three sets of your photographs (front and side)
  • Notarized, officially translated into Spanish and legalized birth certificate

All the other necessary documents to submit your application, such as an address in the Dominican Republic, will be provided by us.

Residence card

Holder of the Dominican ID card, called "Cédula", which you will get upon receiving the residency approval, contains automatically working permission and it is a great difference and advantage in comparison with other Latin America and Caribbean countries.

One of the biggest advantages is the fact that you can legally start the process of application for your residency papers already during your tourist visit of the country, and you do not need to leave the island, as is a common process in the majority of countries in the world. The time to finish your residency process varies from 3 to 4 months from the moment of submitting your application with all the required documentation. At the moment of acceptation of your file in the Immigration Office in Santo Domingo you will be given a four-digit registration number (which is the number of your file in the Dominican Immigration system), and based on this number you can start immediately to do business in Dominican Republic because you are officially considered as a person who has his application in process.
